Ever notice how certain democrats tend to shift their positions as political circumstances dictate?
For example, in 2013, then Attorney General Holder, in a spasm of partisan loyalty, claimed he was President Obama’s “Wingman” and was “there with my boy.” (1) However, fast forward to 2019 and he now sanctimoniously asserts, “The attorney general is the people’s lawyer, not the president’s lawyer,” with a “responsibility to run the Justice Department in a way that is not political.” (2) Sounds pretty shifty to me…
Never forgetting Congressman Nadler who, back in 1998 and cloaked in pious self-righteousness, fulminated against releasing the full Starr Report, saying that “It’s grand jury material. It represents statements which may or may not be true by various witnesses,” but today he hypocritically avows that Congress has “an obligation to read the full (Mueller) report and the DOJ has an obligation to provide it, in its entirety, without delay”. (3) Shifty or shiftless…
Shiftiest of all might be candidate Joe Biden who is as prone to shifting positions as he is to gaffes. One stunning example, among many, is his 1973 criticism of Roe Vs Wade stating, “I don’t like the Supreme Court decision on abortion” but, years later, during a 2007 debate, he shifted to, “I strongly support Roe v. Wade.” (4) Really? Are you shifting me?
You’d think that the democrats would worry that their constantly shifting positions would undermine public confidence in their sincerity.
But maybe they just don’t give a shift.
