We all know that the press routinely demonizes President Trump as a racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic bigot but, given the gains made by the GOP among these various demographics, it would appear that at least some members of these particular cohorts choose to disagree.
For instance, media stalwarts Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper as well as certain leaders of the Democrat party – Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden – have repeatedly termed President Trump – and his supporters – as racist.
Yet, in this latest election, as compared to that of 2016, Republicans reflected a 40% increase in support from Black male voters and a doubling of support from Black females. Not bad for a party headed by a racist.
And despite Joe Biden blasting President Trump for his supposed shameful treatment of people of different cultures, Republicans garnered an unexpectedly high share of the Latino vote thereby casting a shadow on Trump’s supposed xenophobia.
Not to mention that the 2020 election elevated 17 female Republican “first timers” to the House of Representatives and so, truly, if he really is a sexist, he hides it pretty well.
Lastly, notwithstanding certain media reports reflecting his purported anti-LGBTQ bias, he seems to be well-supported by this demographic and doubled his previous percentage of the gay vote which seems to deal a blow to his homophobic reputation.
So if President Trump is going to maintain his reputation as a racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic bigot, he will have to try harder.
