Hey County Commissioners! What the heck are ya thinking? You gonna’ raise my taxes? To create a “Conservation Futures Fund”? (1) And purchase land to preserve for agricultural purposes. To sustain the nation’s food supply? Really?
Do you not know that in the 1800’s, fully 90% of the population lived and worked on farms but that today, this figure has decreased to about 1% and, therefore, the arable land in Clallam County makes a minimal contribution to our food supply? (2)
A farmer should be allowed to sell his land as he sees fit but don’t use my tax dollars to subsidize him so that he can place his property in a status that is not the highest and best possible use of the land. Which, likely, is not agriculture.
And, incidentally, this plan will further reduce the land available for housing which further increases housing prices thereby placing homeownership further out of reach for many of our citizens and, consequently, further intensifying the homeless problem…
So really, this whole deal is to extort money from me that I really don’t want to give you and that you really don’t need in order to address a farming problem that we really don’t have and thereby further exacerbate the homeless situation that we really do have and, for good measure, add to our budget deficit.
I know that you are trying to do the right thing but, in this case, you are merely trying… Very trying…

- In the 1800s, 90 percent of the population lived on farms; today it is around one percent. Over the same period, farm size has increased, and though the average farm in 1995 was just 469 acres, 20 percent of all farms were over 500 acres.

Can you believe that there is a movement to impeach President Trump? I mean, how crazy is that?
Like, he is presiding over a gangbuster economy and, in fact, during the second quarter of this year, nearly everything that should be up – jobs, job openings, weekly earnings, economic growth rate, stock market – is up and nearly everything that should be down – unemployment rate, food stamp recipients, growth of regulatory restrictions – is down.(1) What’s not to love?
But, believe it or not, some Democrats, still steaming over their electoral shellacking of 2016, continue their unceasing efforts to overturn the will of people by any means possible. Except, maybe, the ballot box.
So, after having spent two years and 25 million dollars on the Mueller fiasco – verdict: no conspiracy (2) – they have now seized on a phone call to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy(3) in which President Trump is accused of requesting details regarding then Vice-Presidents Biden’s publicly boasted threat to withhold US military aide to the Ukraine unless a certain state prosecutor was fired. (4)
Trump’s request, incidentally, is totally in accordance with the 1998 US-Ukraine treaty pledging mutual cooperation in investigating criminal matters (5) and well within the conversational bounds of the involved heads of state and hardly an impeachable offense.
But this is just another indication of the desperation democrats are now facing. Because they know that, in the words of Representative Al Green, “If we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected.” (6)
And that’s what they are afraid of… And with good reason…

Have you noticed that there’s a heck of a lot of discussion – argument even – about the difference between Republicans and Democrats? Fact is, it gets pretty heated at times.
Seems that Republicans think democrats are just plain wrong on many issues… that democrats propose unworkable solutions for non-existent problems and then complain that there isn’t enough money allocated to develop required remedies. As if there ever could be…
Democrats, conversely, contend that Republicans refuse to consider these ill-advised “solutions” because Republicans are uncaring, greedy, and evil.
But, really, it’s more complex than simply “wrong” vs “evil”.
Truth is, most Republicans believe that by completing one’s education, working hard, avoiding the self-inflicted hardships of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and other personal pitfalls, it’s possible to be successful in life with virtually no help from the government. I guess this could be described as a modification of John Smith’s credo of “He who works, eats”.
On the other hand, it seems that many Democrats believe that no matter how hard one tries, the deck is just stacked against them and they simply can’t make it through life without continual government assistance. This philosophy is reflected in the collectivist viewpoint outlined in the book “It takes a village” by Hillary Clinton
So, it’s not “wrong vs evil” but more a difference of philosophical viewpoint… Do you favor a John Smith or prefer a Hillary Clinton?
I am unapologetically a Republican. And if you like John Smith, maybe you’re one too…

Looks like a coterie of cunning conservatives infiltrated the Democrat Party and covertly created a liberal message so far to the left that it may well be impossible for most independents – and many Democrats! – to vote against Trump. Pretty darn slick if you ask me…
For instance, this clandestine committee craftily coerced candidates Warren and Sanders to advocate for the elimination of private health insurance in favor of “Medicare For All” (1,2) even though recent polls reflect that 90% of registered voters do not wish to abolish private health programs. (3) You go guys…
And then these cagey confederates conned candidates competing in the second debate into supporting decriminalizing illegal border crossings (4,5,6) which, of course, is not in keeping with the vast majority of Americans – including most democrats – who do not favor so-called open borders. (7) I wonder how they did it? Hypnotism? Put something in their water? Bribe them?
Lastly, they calculatingly convinced Sanders, Warren, and Harris of the “existential threat of climate change” thereby causing them to demand expensive and devastating changes to our lifestyle (8,9) despite that, to many, global warming is highly over-rated (10,11,12) with whole climate issue ranking near the bottom of voter concerns and well below the economy, immigration, women’s issues, gun policy, and Russian election tampering. (13) Those canny conservatives strike again…
In fact, having coaxed such extreme positions from these lefty-liberal contenders, they may have managed to make Joe Biden look like a rational and reasonable candidate.
Which took some doing…

1. Sen. Elizabeth Warren used Wednesday night’s Democratic debate to come out unequivocally for a “Medicare for All” plan that would abolish private health insurers. https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/26/warren-private-insurance-medicare-1558522
2, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders returned to his signature policy theme in a major speech Wednesday: a single-payer, “Medicare for All” health insurance system. https://www.npr.org/2019/07/17/742723399/facing-pressure-in-campaign-sanders-defends-his-signature-health-care-plan

Hardly anything to panic about; however, that does mean the world is warmer, right? The problem with that argument is that we experienced the bulk of that warming between 1979 and 1998 . . . since then, we’ve actually had temperatures DROPPING!

Ever notice how certain democrats tend to shift their positions as political circumstances dictate?
For example, in 2013, then Attorney General Holder, in a spasm of partisan loyalty, claimed he was President Obama’s “Wingman” and was “there with my boy.” (1) However, fast forward to 2019 and he now sanctimoniously asserts, “The attorney general is the people’s lawyer, not the president’s lawyer,” with a “responsibility to run the Justice Department in a way that is not political.” (2) Sounds pretty shifty to me… (more…)

The Mueller report – nearly 2 years in the making and supported by a reported 2800 subpoenas, 500 search warrants and as many witnesses – “did not establish that the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government”, thereby evoking the weeping and wailing heard from the left.
Since there was no conspiracy – a crime defined as “impairing, obstructing or defeating the lawful function of any department of government” – certain democrats, undeterred in their quest to overturn the 2016 election, have seized on a new word – collusion – which is not a crime. (2A) In fact, per constitutional law professor Michael Ghehardt, “It’s not a technical word. It’s actually used, in part, to almost confuse people”.
Looks like it’s working because the easily confused Representative Nadler now insists that “there was in plain sight open collusion with the Russians” and the similarly confused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Schiff has spotted “ample evidence of collusion in plain sight.”
Joining the “collusion confused” are presidential wannabes Eric Swalwell, Beto O’Rourke, and Elizabeth Warren, nearly 3 quarters of the Black Congressional Caucus, Maxine (Impeach 45) Watters and Rashida Tlaib, and, of course, the voices of MSNBC, CNN, CBS, as well as the editorial staffs of most newspapers.
Are these truly rational people? That they would attempt to impeach Trump for a non-crime? What are they afraid of?
Why not just wait for the next election and let the voters decide?
Unless the voters are what they are afraid of…
